Dick and Jane

Olivia's primary teachers last year were Dick and Jane Hansen. They were so wonderful, and Liv just adored them. We had them over for dessert last Sunday and Olivia presented them with this beautiful quilt that she made. We had seen the "Dick and Jane" fabric over a year ago, but when Livi decided she wanted to do something special for the Hansens, she knew immediately what she wanted to make! She help cut out the squares, sew them together, and lay them out into the pattern she wanted. She worked hard! We are always so grateful for the good teachers our children have, and know that the Hansens were extra-special!

Let Him Eat Cake!

Trenton turned one year old on the 22nd! We all can hardly believe it. He has brought such peace and joy into our family, it's hard to imagine what life was like without him. (Believe me, I know how crazy that sounds. We definitely weren't saying that about the first two at this stage in the game!) Trenton is just such a laid back, relaxed, happy little guy that has gone with the flow pretty much from the start. In fact, he's so laid back, he just barely started to crawl before Christmas, and is finally pulling himself up to furniture and "cruising." While he's moved pretty quickly through the stages since beginning to crawl, I just hope this guy is walking by springtime! He enjoyed his b-day (as much as any one year old does!) but wanted little to do with actually touching the cake. He's just as soon have it fed to him! We love this guy, and are so glad he's part of our family!

Inaugural Ball

After talking with the "DC" Osguthorpes, we were inspired to do something to celebrate Inauguration Day. They told us all about the fun Inaugural Ball they were going to have, and that the children had the day off from school for this historic day. We decided to do the same! Olivia stayed home from school that morning and watched the inauguration on TV. We happened to have preschool at our house that morning as well, so we decided to have a "ball" complete with fancy dresses, up-dos, dancing, marching, twirling, coloring, and festive cupcakes! Such a fun way to celebrate a very important day.
