Fourth of July Lake

Olivia and Rich went on a backpacking trip with the Millers on her birthday...she couldn't have dreamed up a better weekend! They hiked into Fourth of July Lake and camped near the shore. Olivia caught a cut-throat trout, hiked over streams, built a lean-to, and enjoyed a campfire. She brought along her gifts from grandparents that arrived just in time--binoculars and a set of walkie talkies. The walkie talkies came in especially handy when Olivia and Annika were miles ahead on the trail! As they laid in their tent Friday night, Olivia asked Rich about all the sounds she was hearing...the babbling stream and the rush of wind through the tall trees above. Rich came home ready to invest in real backpacks, hiking shoes, and sleeping pads...always an adventure! What a great way to turn nine!
